২২ নভেম্বরঃ শিক্ষকের হাতে ছাত্রীর শ্লীলতাহানির অভিযোগে আজ করিমগঞ্জ কলেজ উত্তাল হয়ে ওঠে । অভিযুক্ত শিক্ষক পার্থসারথি দাসকে তাদের হাতে তুলে দেওয়ার দাবি তোলে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা। পুলিশকে প্রথমে ঢুকতেই দিচ্ছিল না তারা। পরে মৃদু লাঠিচার্জ করে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে পুলিশ। অধ্যক্ষের রুম থেকে পার্থবাবুকে থানায় নিয়ে যায়।

কলাবিভাগের এক ছাত্রীর অভিযোগ, বেশ কিছুদিন থেকে বোটানির ওই শিক্ষক তাকে উত্যক্ত করে চলেছেন। বুধবার সে বাড়ি যাওয়ার জন্য অটোয় ওঠে। তিনিও দ্রুত গিয়ে তার পাশে বসেন। পথে তার শ্লীলতাহানি করেন। গতকাল কলেজেও তাকে কুপ্রস্তাব দেন। আজ সে সহপাঠীদের সব কথা জানায়। তাতেই কলেজে উত্তেজনা ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। দৌড়ে পার্থবাবু অধ্যক্ষের রুমে গিয়ে আশ্রয় নেন। সেখান থেকেই তাকে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ।

November 22: It was a surcharged atmosphere at Karimganj College on the issue of molestation of a graduation student. The allegation was against Dr. Partha Sarathi Das, an Assistant Professor of Botany at Karimganj College where the female student studies. Students in large number came to the support of the victim who complained of sexual assault.

The victim, a student of the faculty of Arts at Karimganj College alleged that Dr. Partha Sarathi Das has been disturbing him since the last few weeks. On Wednesday, when the victim took an electric auto-rickshaw to go to her home from the college, the said teacher rushed and boarded the same auto and sat near her. She accused that Dr. Das has touched her inappropriately. She further alleged that on Thursday, the teacher gave her indecent proposal.

Finally, the victim informed her classmates about the activities of Partha Sarathi Das. That was enough for the students to gather together and raised slogans against the teacher. The students raised the demand of handing over Partha in their hands. The teacher was encircled by the students and he was allegedly thrashed by them.

Police was called by the college authority. They were even not allowing the police to get in. Finally, after mild lathi charge, the students dispersed and brought the situation under control. This act of the police further infuriated the students. Dr. Partha Sarathi Das is now under police custody. The police is investigating the matter thoroughly.

However, Partha Sarathi Das has claimed innocence and said that he has been framed in this matter by a section of the students for reasons best known to them. Curiously, though none of the teachers of Karimganj College agreed to make any comment on the incident, but many students have alleged that Dr. Das has been involved in similar incidents in the past also. Once, he even attempted suicide by consuming phenyl, but was lucky to survive that ordeal. Such an incident is indeed a matter of great shame for a premier institution like Karimganj College.
