Faizabad renamed as Ayodhya, more to follow

November 6: Well, this is particularly important for tourists who are visiting Uttar Pradesh. You may not be finding many of the places which you knew once existed. So don’t get tensed if you don’t find Mughalsarai Station or Allahabad or Faizabad. There is nothing wrong with your knowledge of Geography, but you just need to brush up your knowledge of current affairs. We are passing through a phase wherein places named after any Mughal or European are being reversed by the present political dispensation.

Three weeks after the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government renamed Allahabad as Prayagraj, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced that Faizabad district will now be known as Ayodhya. The Faizabad district comprises the twin towns of Faizabad and Ayodhya on the banks of the river Saryu. The district will now be known as Ayodhya, said the saffron-robed chief minister.“Ayodhya is a symbol of our ‘aan, baan aur shaan’ (honour, pride and prestige)” the chief minister said in the pilgrim town, about 120 km from state capital Lucknow.

He also announced a medical college that would be named after Lord Ram’s father in the epic Ramayana, Raja Dashrath. An airport in Ayodhya will be named after Lord Ram. So next time when you book your tickets for Uttar Pradesh, do check for Lord Ram airport, or maybe very soon you can send your son or daughter to Raja Dashrath Medical College for a MBBS degree.
