Facility of inter district round-trip by own vehicles to be provided by Assam govt on 28, 29 & 30 April
April 25: All those who were stranded in different districts of Assam were provided an opportunity by the Assam government to come back to their home district. However, this was a one-way journey that was allowed. The state government has now taken the decision to allow inter-district round-trip (journey to & fro) for those stranded with their own vehicles.. Around 34,000 applications in this connection were made by the people seeking permission for round trip. They will be allowed to do the to and fro journey on 28, 29 and 30 April. This was stated by the state Health minister, Dr. himanta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing at NHM Office in Guwahati on Sunday afternoon.
Those who will be given e-passes for round-trip can take the car from one place to another, collect the passenger and come back to origin destination. A total of 73,000 people with personal vehicles had applied for the same, out of which 34,000 could not be accepted in the initial phase as they had applied for round-trip. So now, this category of persons can avail the benefit of to and fro journey.
The minister, however, stressed that only one round trip would be allowed per pass. He also mentioned that those personal vehicles, which once were issued e-passes to travel to home district will not be allowed to travel 2nd time again for round trip. As regards, red zone, the minister clarified that one can enter into red zones, but none will be allowed to come out of red zones. He said that the Deputy Commissioners will be informed on Sunday itself regarding the decision of the government about the round-trip.
