m November 16: Barak Valley no longer can claim to have the distinction of being a peaceful place. Off and on, anti-social activities are reported from the nook and corner of the district. Gradually, even the militants have made the jungles of the valley a safe hideout for them, where they conduct training and plan destructive moves. On Saturday early morning, such a terror camp was busted from the dense forests of Ramgaizang, Jirighat in Cachar district.

On the basis of source information 37Bn. Assam Rifles with SDPO Lakhipur and OC Jirighat launched an operation in the thick jungles of Ramgaizan area and destroyed makeshift camp used by NSCN(R) and ZUF cadres to carry out their activities in Zeliangrong Region.

In the operation two cadres were apprehended and one AK-56 rifle, a huge cache of ammunition, extortion slip book, mobile phones and various household items were recovered from the camp.. The arrested   NSCN (R) rebel has been identified as Pougonglong alias Lucky, 28, a resident of Nungtek in Tamenglong district of Manipur and the ZUF cadre has been identified as Sagu Rongmai, 40 of Ramgaizang in Cachar district. Both the individual were involved in illegal extortion, Kidnapping and criminal activities in Zeliangrong region.
