Excise duty on liquor increased by 25% on MRP in Assam & Meghalaya

May 8: The indication of hike in excise duty on liquor was aready indicated by State Revenue Minister, Himnta Biswa Sarma during a press briefing on Thursday. On Friday, after a cabinet meeting, the Excise Department of Assam has decided to hike the liquor prices in Assam by 25 per cent. Assam industry and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary in a press meet informed the decision of the cabinet. The revised prices will become effective from Friday midnight.
