Ex-DGP Kuladhar Saikia elected new President of Asom Sahitya Sabha

January 02: In the Asom Sahitya Sabha (ASS) election held on Thursday, Sahitya Akademi Award-winning writer and former Assam Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia won the post of President. Mrinalini Devi, the mother of Assam BJP minister Himanta Biswa Sarma won the post of Vice President.

Jadav Sarma defeated Debajit Bora with a margin of 68 votes for the post of general secretary of the body. The chief electoral officer for the Sahitya Sabha election was retired judge of Gauhati High Court Biplab Kumar Sharma while Bijan Mahajan and SP Roy were present as election officers.
