Earthquake rocks North East India including Barak Valley

২১ জুন: আচমকা কেঁপে উঠল বরাক উপত্যকা সহ গোটা উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চল৷ বিকাল ৪টা ১৬ মিনিট ২৪ সেকেন্ডের এই কম্পন কয়েক সেকেন্ড স্থায়ী হলেও বেশ আতঙ্কের সৃষ্টি করে৷ বিশেষ করে বলয়গ্রাস সূর্যগ্রহণের ঠিক পরপর এই ধরনের ভূকম্প সাধারণ জনতার মধ্যে বিশেষ চর্চার ব্যাপার হয়ে উঠেছে৷

ন্যাশনাল সেন্টার ফর সিসমোলজি সূত্রে প্রকাশ, রবিবার বিকালের কম্পনের তীব্রতা ছিল ৫.১ রিখটার৷ এর উৎপত্তিস্থল মিজোরামের রাজধানী আইজল থেকে ২৫ কিমি উত্তর-পূর্বে, ৩৫ কিমি গভীরে৷

গত তিনদিনে এটি এই অঞ্চলে দ্বিতীয় ভূমিকম্প৷ এর আগে গত ১৮ জুন রাত সাড়ে ৭টা ২৯ মিনিটে একইভাবে কেঁপে উঠেছিল এই অঞ্চল৷  সে দিনও উতপত্তিস্থল ছিল মিজোরাম এবং রিখটারে তার মাত্রা ধরা পড়েছিল ৫৷

June 21: An earthquake rocked some of the states of North East India including Assam at 4.16.24 PM on Sunday. The tremours were felt in all the districts of Barak Valley. The tremours were felt for around 30 to 40 seconds. Though there were no initial reports of any loss of life and property, yet detailed report is awaited.

As per reports, the quake originated 25 kms NE of Aizawl in Mizoram within a Latitude of 23.9110 and Longitude 92.86664 within a depth of 35 km. The earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale. This was informed by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country.
