During road travel of CM, traffic may be paused for maximum 2 minutes: Assam Cabinet
Movement of ambulance to get precedence over CM’s carcade
Jan. 27: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 15 publicly scolded Nagaon Deputy Commissioner Nisarg Hivare for allegedly halting traffic on NH 127 for the Chief Minister’s convoy to pass. A video clip of the incident soon went viral in social media. There was a wide repercussion after the incident. Many even aired the view that it was improper for a Chief Minister to rebuke an IAS officer in public.
However, on 27 January, the Assam Cabinet came up with a detailed guidelines regarding the carcade of the Chief Minister. The Cabinet took the following decisions in this regard:
- To minimise public inconvenience, Chief Minister’s carcade to be limited to 6 cars within Guwahati Metropolitan Area and 12 in other areas or districts, excluding Escort and Pilot.
- During road travel of CM, traffic will not be disrupted beforehand. If required, may be paused for a period not exceeding 2 minutes.
- Movement of ambulance to get precedence over CM’s carcade and will not be stopped.
