Dream Celebration organises awareness programme on drugs abuse
January 10: In order to create a drugs free society, an awareness programme in this connection was organised by ‘Dream Celebration’ on Tuesday at Silchar Banga Bhawan. The awareness programme entitled “Life is Beautiful, Say no to drugs” was graced by a host of dignitaries.
The programme was graced by SP Cachar, Additional SP, Principal of Women’s College, renowned doctors & advocates, members from NGOs, representatives from around 60 clubs, including, Lions Club, Lioness Club, Rotaract Club, Rotary Club, Friends of Earth etc., social activists, Director of Debdan Academy, Director of Rajib Gandhi Institute, Dolchut Band among others.
The programme entitled “Life is Beautiful, Say no to drugs” was divided into three parts: awareness section, felicitation and cultural performances. The programme began by lightning of the lamp by the dignitaries. Speakers highlighted the evil effects of drugs in the present society.
This anti-drugs awareness programme was an initiative by Nikita Banik, President of Women’s College Students’ Union. Speaking to way2barak, Nikita Banik said, “As you are aware that Barak Valley has become prone to drugs intake by the youth. This initiative was an endeavour to make the youth aware about the evil effects of drugs. I would request people from every walk of life to join me in building a drugs free healthy society and a healthy nation.”
