Dr Sujit Tewari joins as new principal of Women’s College Silchar

way2barak, DEC 6: Renowned educationist and award-winning teacher for academic excellence and innovation, Dr Sujit Tewari, Associate Professor, Department of Physics and Coordinator IQAC, Karimganj College has joined as the new principal of Women’s College Silchar on Friday.
Dr Tewari took charges from Dr Santanu Das, assistant professor at the Department of Education who was officiating as the principal in-charge of the college. As per the college sources, Dr Tewari is the 20th principal of the college and 10th in the hierarchy of permanent principals of the institution since 1963.
The new principal of the college was greeted and felicitated by the faculty members, members from the student’s union, and office staff of the college. Having assumed charges, Dr Tewari interacted with the faculty members and sought cooperation from the faculty members and non-teaching staff members of the college to accelerate the pace of development and improvement of the college. Sharing his thoughts, Dr Tewari said that he is happy to have joined as the principal of a college which bears a rich legacy of imparting education to women since the last 61 years.
“Development of a society depends on the girls. I feel it is a great opportunity to work as principal of the college which has been rendering great service to the society providing education to the girls. While the responsibility for me is more, I feel there is more opportunity as well. Whatever we do we do it for the nation and it will be a major responsibility on my part to educate the girls in the reputed institution in southern Assam. There is a lot of work to be done for which, I have received positive assurances from everyone in the college,” Dr Tewari said.
He was quick to inform that the college is about to face the reaccreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) soon and I am confident that with the support from the teachers, office staff and the students, the college will be able to perform well in the assessment. “Educational institutions like the Women’s College are a man-making factory and as such it is our job as teachers to shape the lives of the students into responsible human beings who would contribute towards nation building tasks. Efforts to impart quality education and moral values in practice will help us to achieve our goals and I believe our students will bring glory to the college and shine in their careers. It is my dream to transform the institution into one of the top ranked institutions of excellence,” Dr Tewari maintained. He said that he will interact with the students every month to get their feedback on their issues and aspirations so that the students get the best facilities to accomplish their academic pursuits.
