Dr. Sidhhartha Bhattacharjee & others discharged from quarantine
May 30: Eminent surgeon of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), Dr. Sidhhartha Bhattacharjee was discharged from institutional quarantine on Saturday. Infact, the surgery department of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) was declared as a containment zone after one patient admitted therein for other ailments tested COVID-19 positive on 22 May.
45-years old Khalilur Rehman, a resident of Anglabazar in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on Thursday evening as he was suffering from severe stomach pain. He was under the treatment of Dr. Sidhhartha Bhattacharjee. The patient though was asymptomatic, but even though as a precautionary measure, his swab test was done. The swab result was positive. He was instantly shifted to COVID-19 ward of SMCH.
Following this, Dr. Bhattacharjee along with some other PG doctors, internees and nurses of the surgery department was put under institutional quarantine on 23 May. Since then, Dr. Bhattacharjee was quarantined at Sagarika Hotel. As per protocol, 2 swab tests were done and both the test reports of Dr. Bhattacharjee were negative. Finally, he was discharged from the quarantine centre on the 9th day on 30 May.
