District felicitation programme honours best SMDCs in Cachar

way2barak April 2: The New Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Cachar, witnessed a momentous occasion on Wednesday as the District Level Felicitation Programme honored the best School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) of 2024-25 and marked the ceremonial distribution of tablets to Class X mentees under the AROHAN initiative.

The event was graced by the presence of Additional District Commissioner (Education) Antara Sen, Assistant Commissioner cum DMC, SSA, Bonnykha Chetia, Inspector of Schools ,Cachar District Circle,Silchar Ganesh Harijan, along with other esteemed officials and dignitaries.

Notably, a total of sixteen Class X mentees, two from each educational block, were honored at the event, accompanied by their guide teachers and school heads. Also in attendance were the presidents and principals of the award-winning SMDCs, whose relentless efforts in strengthening school-community ties were recognized and celebrated.

In her address, ADC (Education) Antara Sen reiterated the District Administration’s steadfast commitment to supporting the best SMDCs and acknowledged the collective contributions of all SMDCs in Cachar. She emphasized the significance of community and alumni involvement under Vidyanjali 2.0 and encouraged mentees to utilize the tablets responsibly to excel in their HSLC examinations.

 The Inspector of Schools,Cachar Ganesh Harijan further elaborated on the pivotal role of SMDCs in fostering quality education and acknowledged their unwavering dedication.

Earlier, Dr. Bidyut Deb Choudhury, District Programme Officer, Samagra Shiksha cum Regional Secretary, ASSEB Regional Office, Cachar, emphasized the transformative impact of the Best SMDC Award and the Tablet PC distribution initiative in enhancing learning experiences.

It is worth mentioning that the Best SMDCs Awards were conferred upon three outstanding institutions, each recognized for their exemplary contributions to school development and student welfare. Jogai Mathura Higher Secondary School, Lakhipur, was awarded the 1st Best SMDC, receiving Rs. 15,000, a certificate, and a memento. The 2nd Best SMDC title was bestowed upon Bam Nityananda Multi-Purpose Higher Secondary School, Dholai, which received Rs. 10,000, a certificate, and a memento. Adharchand Higher Secondary School, Silchar, secured the 3rd Best SMDC award with Rs. 5,000, a certificate, and a memento.

In a significant step towards bridging the digital divide, sixteen selected mentees from eight education blocks were ceremonially handed over Tablet PCs, reinforcing the government’s commitment to digital learning. The remaining 151 mentees will receive their tablets on April 3, 2025, at Government Girls’ HS School upon presenting their HSLC Admit Cards. This initiative aims to equip a total of 167 Class X mentees with essential digital tools, including a Tablet PC, case cover, adapter, and earphones, fostering academic excellence through technology.

Further acknowledging dedication and service, several guide teachers and staff members were felicitated for their invaluable support in mentoring AROHAN mentees during their exposure visits. The honored educators included Amalendu Singha, Abidur Rahman Laskar, Jayanti Dhar, Sharmila Choudhury, Arpita Das, Kh. Pushpalata Singha, Mehazabeen Choudhury, Zenifa Akthar Barbhuiya, and Punoom Biswas. Their contributions to student guidance and administrative excellence were lauded by the attendees.
