District Congress alleges anomaly in Silchar PHE Div.2, detains SDO for an hour

January 30: Cachar District Congress Committee brought numerous allegations against Silchar PHE Division-2. A delegation of around 150 Congress supporters gheraoed the PHE Division-2 office on Wednesday afternoon. The SDO of the Division was also detained by the delegation for about an hour inside his chamber.

It was alleged that the various treatment plants spread throughout the district were witnesses of mass negligence by the concerned PHE Division. Speaking to way2barak, Sanjeev Roy, Secretary APCC said, ” Sheer negligence of Silchar PHE Division 2 is the reason why around 45 treatment plants have been closed till now and many others are functioning in adverse condition.” He alleged that people are facing acute crisis of drinking water.

The delegation gave a deadline till March 2019 to solve the prevalent crisis. It was further asserted to the SDO that if by the stipulated time any positive intervention is not made by the department, than District Congress will launch a vigorous agitation.

Apart from Sanjeev Roy, also present in the delegation were General Secretary of District Congress Rajesh Deb, Debodip Dutta, Sanchita Acharjee, Sajal Banik, Abdul Rajjak, Purobi Roy, Bina Rana among others.
