Cachar administration ensured round-the-clock health services for the Bhuban pilgrims.

way2barak, February 25:The Monthly Review Meeting of the District Health Society, Cachar, was held on Monday at the New Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Mridul Yadav .

The meeting witnessed the presence of several distinguished officials, including Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner (Health), Dr. Shibananda Roy, Joint Director of Health Services, and other senior medical officers and health administrators from across the district.

The meeting began with a momentous recognition of two Gram Panchayats—Borkhola GP and Chesri GP—for being declared TB-Mukt Panchayats. The District Commissioner felicitated representatives from both panchayats with certificates and mementos, appreciating their efforts in eradicating tuberculosis at the grassroots level. Additionally, outstanding health personnel were recognized for their commendable contributions in UWIN services, while six emergency management technicians s and Pilots of 108 Ambulance services were also honored for their dedication.

A key focus of the meeting was the 100-day Intensified TB Campaign, with a target of completing 100% screening by February 2025. Officials were directed to expedite chest X-ray procedures, ensuring daily progress tracking by the District TB Officer. Mobilization efforts were also reinforced, with Senior treatment supervisors, Senior treatment laboratory supervisors, and Block program managers taking the lead in facilitating screenings.

As a crucial point, the meeting focused on the upcoming Bhuban Mela, where an estimated 7-8 lakh devotees are expected to gather from February 25 to 27, 2025. To ensure seamless medical support during the mega event, the District Commissioner directed the deployment of adequate medical teams and 108 ambulances, ensuring round-the-clock health services for the attending pilgrims.

The review further emphasized the need to enhance Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening. District officials were instructed to deploy all available resources, including the Assam Cancer Care Foundation, Mobile Medical Units, and Piramal Swasthya (104), particularly in underperforming blocks. A strict daily progress report submission mechanism was mandated to ensure complete coverage.

Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) initiative, the meeting underscored the urgency of conducting 100% mass screening in schools and Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) by March 2025, with at least 50% completion targeted by February. Officials were tasked with ensuring that all health indicators show significant improvement compared to the previous year.

Routine immunization performance also came under review, with a directive that each health block must achieve 95% full immunization coverage by March 2025. The importance of UWIN-based immunization tracking was stressed, requiring strict compliance by all service providers.

Further, discussions were held on the Tea Garden Wage Compensation Scheme, emphasizing 100% registration of beneficiaries and timely disbursement of financial benefits. Similarly, the meeting reinforced the necessity of prompt JSY (Janani Suraksha Yojana) payments to all eligible beneficiaries.

The session also reviewed the RCH (Reproductive and Child Health) portal, calling for immediate updates on service registrations for pregnant women and children. Special attention was given to improving newborn care, with directives to enhance admission and management facilities at Newborn Stabilization Units to ensure better survival rates and quality care.

District officials were also urged to ensure visible improvements in family planning services, aiming for a higher success rate in contraceptive adoption and reproductive health awareness. Additionally, a strong push was made to complete all pending and ongoing infrastructure projects by March 2025.

Another significant agenda of the meeting was hospital management, with a firm directive for cleanliness, punctuality of medical staff, and strict adherence to prescribing drugs from the Essential Drug List (EDL). The Commissioner stressed the need for better patient care, ensuring hospitals maintain high standards of service delivery.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to achieving all set targets, enhancing healthcare delivery across the district, and ensuring timely execution of all health-related initiatives.
