Discussion held on issues affecting the indigenous Muslim population of Assam
July 4: An interactive session, “Alasp Aru Alochana” by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma with intellectual and leading persons of minority community was held on July 4, 2021 at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara. The discussion centered around socio-economic issues affecting the indigenous Muslim population of Assam and was held in presence of Minister of Welfare of Minorities & Development Department Chandra Mohan Patowary, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, MLA & Political Secretary Jayanta Malla Baruah.
To ensure constructive intervention following the discussion, eight sub-groups with representatives of indigenous Muslim will be formed to deliberate on issues for the community like health, education, skill development, cultural identity, financial inclusion, women empowerment etc.

A Chairman from the community & a Member Secretary from the govt in each sub-group will come up with recommendations on their assigned matters within 3 months. After this, the state government will prepare a road-map for empowerment of indigenous Muslim community and implement it over next five years.
