Dimasa militant killed in encounter at Maibang

December 28: In a violent encounter which took place between Assam Police and militants of Dimasa National Army, a diehard militant was shot dead. The incident took place at Motibra village under Maibong PS in the district of Dima Hasao in Assam on Friday morning. Massive combing operation was launched by the security forces since early morning on Friday. Efforts are on to nab more militants and thereby free the place from the grip of those armed militants. A sophisticated rifle belonging to the AK series and 81 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the killed militant. The militant who died in the encounter was later on identified as Jitesh Haflongbar.

There was prior information that militants belonging to the Dimasa National Army have become active in the Maibong area of Dima Hasao. Finally, on Friday morning, security forces led a combing operation in which they were able to gain initial success.
