DGP Assam felicitates Home Guard whose honesty led to the recovery of drugs worth ₹12 crore
June 23: Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta felicitated Borsing Bay, the Home Guard whose exemplary act of honesty led to the recovery of 3 KG Crystal Meth valued at ₹12 crore. Apart from a letter of appreciation and a ghamosa, he was also rewarded with an amount of Rs.1 lakh on Wednesday.
Taking to its twitter handle Assam Police on Wednesday wrote, “Bhaskar Mahanta, Director DGP Assam Police today felicitated Sh. Borsing Bay, the Home Guard whose exemplary act of honesty led to the recovery of 3 KG Crystal Meth valued at ₹12 crore. This selfless act of Sh. Bay and his commitment towards duty is inspirational.”

On Monday, the Karbi Anglong police have seized three kilos of high-quality Methamphetamine aka Crystal ice at a check gate under Dillai police station in East Karbi Anglong late Monday evening. The drugs were detected in a Guwahati-bound night super bus bearing registration no MN-06B 0511 by a Home Guard Borsing Bey. Value of the seized drugs is about Rs.12 Crores in International market.”

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed that the, “Lion’s share of credit for this drug haul goes to Home Guard Borsing Bay. He was offered a huge bribe amount by the accused in return for letting them go free. Sri Bay refused.” The drug packets were kept concealed inside the dashboard of the cabin and were impossible to detect from outside. Three people including the driver along with two other women hailing from Tamil Nadu were arrested in connection with the seizure.
