DGP Assam announces ₹1 lakh reward for a Home Gaurd whose honesty led to seizure of drugs worth ₹12 cr

June 22: The exemplary instance of honesty exhibited by Home Guard Borsing Bey led to seizure of drugs worth Rs 2 crore by Assam Police. On Monday,  the Karbi Anglong police have seized three kilos of high-quality Methamphetamine aka Crystal ice at a check gate under Dillai police station in East Karbi Anglong late Monday evening. The drugs were detected in a Guwahati-bound night super bus bearing registration no MN-06B 0511 by a Home Guard Borsing Bey.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed that the, “Lion’s share of credit for this drug haul goes to Home Guard Borsing Bay. He was offered a huge bribe amount by the accused in return for letting them go free. Sri Bay refused.” The drug packets were kept concealed inside the dashboard of the cabin and were impossible to detect from outside. Three people including the driver along with two other women hailing from Tamil Nadu were arrested in connection with the seizure.

Two women from Tamil Nadu and One man from Manipur are in our custody for this.

Assam Police tweeted, “In a major blow to the Drug cartels operating from Manipur, @assampolice today seized 3 kilos of high quality Meth aka Crystal Ice at a check gate under Dillai PS, #KarbiAnglong. Value of the seized drugs is about Rs.12 Crores in International market.”

Meanwhile, DGP Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta announced a reward of Rs 1 Lakh to Home Guard Borsing Bey for his honest and brave act. Taking to his twitter handle, DGP Assam wrote, “Because of which drugs worth Rs.12 crores have been taken off the market. Sri Bay for this selfless and honest act, will be rewarded with an amount of Rs. One Lakh. Salute to HomeGaurd Bay! Salute to @karbianglongpol ! We are all so proud of you!”
