Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque sets an example of brotherhood and harmony
Dec. 2: At the Bagpur and Sonabarighat Ferry Ghat roads of the Sonai constituency, a Durga idol was left unattended and got stuck on the bank as the river water dried up at that place. This ferry road is especially used by the minority people in the area.
When this issue was brought to the notice of Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly and MLA Sonai Aminul Haque Laskar, he immediately went at the site on Wednesday and with the help of the local people and BJP workers removed the Durga idol from the dry river bed and immersed it in the river.
Everyone present there was fascinated by such kind of effort taken by MLA Sonai Aminul Haque Laskar who himself became instrumental and arranged a boat to put the idol in the river water so that the idol is not disrespected. People regarded it as an exemplary step of brotherhood and harmony exhibited by the Deputy Speaker.
Expressing his views. Aminul Haque Laskar said, “It is our duty to promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all sections of the populace. We should respect religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities as it is also our fundamental duty. It is very important for us.”
