স্টেশনের নাম পরিবর্তন করে ১৮-তেই হোক ১৯ শ্রদ্ধা : মঞ্চ
Demand to rename Silchar station raised vigorously

১৯ সেপ্টেম্বর : আজ ১৯ সেপ্টেম্বর। ‘১৯’ সংখ্যার সঙ্গে বরাকের মানুষের এক আত্মার সম্পর্ক। রাজনৈতিক কারণেই হোক বা অন্য বিষয়ে, ২০১৯-এর দিকে চেয়ে রয়েছে গোটা উপত্যকা। আগামী বছর এক নতুন বার্তা নিয়ে আসবে, বরাকের মানুষের তা মনে প্রানে বিশ্বাস করেন। তাহলে আগামী ১৯শেই কি যথাযথ সম্মান পাবেন বরাকের উনিশের শহিদেরা! নাকি ১৯-কে সামনে রেখে ১৮-তেই হবে ১৯-এর যোগ্য সম্মান ? পুজোর উপহার হিসেবে বরাকবাসী পাবেন শিলচর রেল স্টেশনের নতুন নাম— ভাষা শহিদ স্টেশন শিলচর।

দু’মাস আগে শিলচরের সম্মিলিত সাংস্কৃতিক মঞ্চের পক্ষ থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সনোয়ালকে একটি চিঠিতে শিলচর স্টেশনের নাম ভাষা শহিদ স্টেশন শিলচর হিসেবে একটি গেজেট নোটিফিকেশন দেওয়ার জন্য অনুরোধ জানানো হয়েছিল। দেরিতে হলেও মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কার্যালয় থেকে এর প্রাপ্তি স্বীকারের কথা জানানো হয়েছে।

 

মঞ্চের আহবায়ক রাজীব করের স্বাক্ষর করা ওই চিঠিতে বলা হয়েছে, ২০১৬ সালেরর ৭ নভেম্বর এই নাম পরিবর্তন ইস্যুতে কেন্দ্রের স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রক থেকে জানানো হয়েছিল, শিলচর রেল স্টেশনের নাম পরিবর্তন হয়ে ভাষা শহিদ স্টেশন করা হলে কেন্দ্রের কোনো আপত্তি নেই। তাছাড়া কেন্দ্র সরকার রাজ্যকে এ সংক্রান্ত গেজেট নোটিফিকেশন ইস্যু করার কথাও বলেছে।

 

এ ব্যাপারে সম্মিলিত মঞ্চের সভাপতি সুব্রত ভট্টাচার্য বলেন, এই ইস্যুতে বহুবার সরকারের কাছ থেকে তারা প্রতিশ্রুতি পেয়েছেন। কিন্তু আদৌ কাজের কাজ কিছুই হয়নি। তিনি বলেন, মঞ্চের এক প্রতিনিধি দল ইতিমধ্যে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী সর্বানন্দ সোনোয়ালের সঙ্গে দেখা করার চিন্তাভাবনা করছে। তিনি আশাবাদী, রাজ্য সরকার এ ব্যাপারে সদর্থক পদক্ষেপ নেবে।

তবে শিলচর স্টেশনের নাম পরিবর্তনের ক্ষেত্রে রাজনৈতিক প্রভাব থাকার বিষয়টি প্রকারান্তরে স্বীকার করেন মঞ্চের সভাপতি। তিনি বলেছেন, কেন্দ্র সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে নো অবজেকশন সার্টিফিকেট দেওয়ার পরও রাজ্য সরকার কেন গেজেট নোটিফিকেশন দিতে আপত্তি করছে, তা মোটেই বোধগম্য হচ্ছে না।

 

মঞ্চের আহ্বায়ক ডাঃ রাজীব কর বলেছেন, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বহুবার নাম পরিবর্তন ইস্যুতে সম্মতি জানিয়েছেন। স্টেশনে দাঁড়িয়ে তিনি যেমন বলেছেন, তেমনি নমামি বরাকের অনুষ্ঠানে এসেও সম্মতি ব্যক্ত করেছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। রাজীব বলেন, শিলচর রেল স্টেশনের নাম পরিবর্তনের প্রশ্নে এ পর্যন্ত মোট ১৪ বার মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে তারা দেখা করেছেন। দু’মাস আগেও মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গিয়েছিলেন তারা। কিন্তু তিনি না থাকায় প্রেস আধিকারিককে স্মারকপত্র দিয়ে এসেছেন। তাছাড়া মন্ত্রী হিমন্তবিশ্ব শর্মার সঙ্গে দেখা করেও একই দাবি জানিয়েছেন। তিনি স্পষ্ট বলেন, ১৯শে ১৯-এর শহিদদের মর্যাদা নয়, ১৮-তেই হোক উনিশের শহিদদের সম্মান প্রদর্শন।

যে সরকার বহুদিন থেকে শিলচর রেল স্টেশনের নাম পরিবর্তন ইস্যুকে ঝুলিয়ে রেখেছে, সেই সরকারের প্রতি পূর্ণ আস্থা প্রদর্শন করেই রাজীববাবু বলেছেন, রাজনৈতিক সদিচ্ছার যেমন অভাব রয়েছে, তেমনি উগ্র অসমিয়া জাতীয়তাবাদী শক্তিও এতে কাজ করছে। তারপরও গণতান্ত্রিক প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে আইনের সাহায্য ছাড়াই এটি সফল হবে। আর তখনই হবে ১৯-এর শহিদদের প্রতি উপযুক্ত সম্মান প্রদর্শন।

September 19: Today is 19 September. The digit ‘19’ has got an emotional relation with the people of Barak Valley. It may be due to political reasons or reasons other than this that the entire valley is looking forward towards 2019. People of the valley have a belief in their heart of hearts that the New Year will bear a message of hope. Will the martyrs of ‘19’ get their due respect in 2019? Whether the martyrs of ‘19’ will get their due honour in 2018? Will the government give the people of this valley a befitting Puja gift by renaming Silchar Railway Station as ‘Bhasha Sahid Station, Silchar? These are the questions going on in the hearts and minds of the people of Barak Valley. The answer to these questions, of course lies in the womb of future.

Two months ago, a letter was addressed to the state Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal  by ‘Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha’ urging him to issue Gazette Notification in connection with renaming Silchar Railway Station as ‘Bhasha Sahid Station, Silchar. Though late, yet the office of the Chief Minister has acknowledged the receipt of this letter.

In the letter signed by Dr. Rajib Kar, the Convenor of ‘Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha,’ it was stated that on 7 November 2016, Government of India gave no objection for changing the name of Silchar Railway Station as ‘Bhasha Sahid Station, Silchar. In that letter issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs of Government of India, the state government of Assam was requested to issue the required Gazette Notification for the spelling of new name in Devnagri (Hindi), Roman (English) and Regional Language (Bengali).

Subrata Bhattacharjee, President of ‘Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha’said that they have got enough assurance from the government in this regard. But these assurances turned out to be broken promises. He also said that they are contemplating to meet the Chief Minister very soon. He is hopeful that the state government will adopt positive steps in this matter of renaming. However, indirectly he did not rule out the matter that there may be a political angle to the entire issue of delay in renaming Silchar Railway Station. He was at a loss to fathom the reason of delay on the part of the state government inspite of getting clearance from the central government.

Dr. Rajib Kar further said that the Chief Minister has given positive assurance in this matter on a number of occasions. Mr. Sonowal has assured to rename Silchar Railway Station standing in the very premises of the station and also during ‘Namami Barak’ programme. They have met the Chief Minister 14 times on this very issue. They have gone to meet the Chief Minister even two months ago. But as the Chief Minister was not present at Guwahati, so the memorandum was given to his officer in-charge of Press and Media. He categorically stated that let the renaming be done in 2018 itself.

Dr. Rajib Kar has deposited his full trust on that very state government which has delayed the issue of renaming Silchar Railway Station as ‘Bhasha Sahid Station, Silchar.’ He said that there is a lack of political will which has resulted in this delay. He further alleged that aggressive Assamese nationalism is also another cause for not renaming Silchar station till now. Inspite of this, he believes that without going to the judiciary, this issue will be sorted out. He said, once the renaming is done, the martyrs of ‘19’ will get their rightful honor and due recognition.
