Delhi is not far now, it stands at your doorstep, says PM Modi in Assam

Feb. 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Assam and West Bengal on 22 February 2021. This is his 3rd visit during the year in poll bound Assam. In his speech, the Prime Minister accused the previous governments of neglecting the state and the northeast and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the region. “Those who ruled for decades since Independence believed Dispur was too distant from Delhi. But Delhi is not far now, it stands at your doorstep,” asserted PM Modi.

Addressing a massive gathering after laying the foundation of a slew of projects worth over Rs 3,300 crore, PM Modi said that he will visit Assam and other poll-bound states as many times as possible before elections are announced. The PM also indicated that the schedule for the assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry could be announced in the first week of next month.

The PM dedicated the INDMAX unit at Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOC) Bongaigaon refinery to the nation. INDMAX is an indigenously developed technology by IOC to produce a high yield of LPG and high-octane gasoline from various petroleum fractions. He also inaugurated Dhemaji Engineering College and laid the foundation stone of Sualkuchi Engineering College. Further the Prime Minister launched Oil India Limited’s Secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban, Dibrugarh and Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda Village, Makum, Tinsukia.
