Delhi court orders FIR against Sambit Patra over doctored video of CM Delhi

The post was flagged by Twitter as a "manipulated video."

Nov. 24: A Delhi court on Tuesday ordered the police to file an FIR against BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra for posting a doctored video of Delhi Chef Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The video purportedly showed sections of an interview of Kejriwal which were edited to make it appear as if he had spoken in support of the Centre’s farm laws, which were recently revoked. The post was flagged by Twitter as a “manipulated video.”

According to the complaint, Patra, had in January this year, posted an edited, doctored and tampered with footage of CM Kejriwal on social media — which showed the AAP chief purportedly supporting the farm laws.  According to a fact-check conducted by AltNews, the 18-second video was analysed and it was found that in the original video, the CM was actually speaking against the farm bills. Patra had deleted the tweet after this fact-check was published.

The AAP had criticised Sambit Patra for sharing the edited video and accused him of trying to malign Aravind Kejriwal’s image. Also, a case was filed against the BJP under various sections.
