দেবরাজের মৃত্যু, শোকমিছিল থেকে ড্রাগস সরবরাহকারীদের বিরুদ্ধে ক্ষোভ
Debraj’s death evokes anger, demand raised to nab drug peddlers

ড্রাগস কেড়ে নিয়েছে ১৬ বছরের কিশোরের প্রাণ। এই কথা যত ছড়াচ্ছে, তত আঁতকে উঠছেন শহরবাসী। দেবরাজ রায়ের মৃত্যু সবাইকে উদ্বিগ্ন করে তুলেছে। তাই বৃহস্পতিবার সন্ধ্যায় শোকমিছিলে মোমবাতি হাতে হাঁটলেন রাধামাধব রোড ও সংলগ্ন এলাকার মানুষ। নারী-পুরুষ, শিশু-বৃদ্ধ—-কে নেই সেখানে! নামে শোক মিছিল হলেও আদতে সকলের চোখে-মুখে কথায় তীব্র ক্ষোভ ঝরে পড়ছিল। সবাই জানতে চান, কোথা থেকে ড্রাগস আসছে এখানে, কারা ড্রাগস এনে পৌঁছে দেয় স্কুলছাত্রদের হাতে। পুলিশি উদাসীনতাকেই দুষছিলেন তাঁরা।

সন্ধ্যায় দেবরাজের বাড়ির সামনে জড়ো হন শ-দেড়েক মানুষ। রাধামাধব রোড হয়ে এগিয়ে যান প্রেমতলা, সেন্ট্রাল রোড। শেষে ফিরে আসা। মিছিল যত এগিয়েছে, বিভিন্ন জায়গা থেকে সচেতন মানুষ স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে তাতে অংশ নিয়েছেন।

দেবরাজের পিতা গোপাল রায় ছেলের নেশাসক্তির কথা মানতে নারাজ। তিনি বৃহস্পতিবার বলেন, নেশাসক্ত হলে বাড়িঘরে সে থাকত কী করে। তার আচরণে তো কখনও অস্বাভাবিকতা দেখা যায়নি! তবে ছেলে কুসঙ্গে পড়তে পারে, এ কথা অস্বীকার করছেন না গোপালবাবু। কিন্তু এইসব ড্রাগস ছাত্রদের কাছে কে কীভাবে পৌঁছে দেয়, পুলিশকে তা খুঁজে বের করার জোরালো দাবি জানান তিনি।

September 6: Drugs have snatched away the life of a teenager. The death of Debraj Roy (16) in mysterious circumstances has made people of this town tensed about the well being of the teenagers. The news of his death has invited both anger and anxiousness. It is in this backdrop that the people of Radhamadhab Road and its adjoining areas took out a candle rally. People belonging to all age group participated in this mourning procession. Anger towards the drug peddlers could be seen in the eyes of those who were walking in the rally with placards in their hands. All wanted to know who all are involved behind the supply of drugs. They were baffled as to who sells the drugs to the school students. People blamed the apathy of the police for the rising crime in the valley.

Today evening around 100 to 150 people assembled near the house of Debraj and took out a rally, which went through Premtala and Central Road. Many passersby also joined the rally out of their own accord.

Gopal Roy, the father of Debraj is not ready to accept that his son was a drug addict. He asked, “Had Debraj been drug addict, how could he stay at home so normally? There were no signs of any abnormality in the behavior of Debraj.” However, at the same time he did not deny that his son may have involved in bad company. He urged upon the police to find out how drugs reach the hands of the school students.
