Debabrata Saikia selected as leader of Congress Legislative Party

May 20: The elected MLAs of Assam Congress nominated Debabrata Saikia as the leader of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in Assam Assembly. Further, Rakibul Hussain was nominated as the Deputy leader of the CLP.

Issuing a letter to this effect to the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly by Ripun Bora, President of APCC on 20 May, it was further stated that Wajid Ali Choudhury and Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha were selected as the chief whip and deputy chief whip of the CLP. Apart from this, Rupjyoti Kurmi was nominated as the Secretary of CLP. Sushanta Borgohain and Rekibuddin Ahmed were selected as spokesperson of CLP and Treasurer of CLP respectively.
