Deaths due to COVID-19 cross 500-mark in Assam with 19 fatalities on Wednesday

Sept. 16: On Wednesday, Assam registered 19 more deaths due to COVID-19. With this, the death tally of the state has now crossed the 500-mark and reached 511. In a tweet on Wednesday night, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Very sad & anguished to inform that 19 more COVID19 positive patients have succumbed to the disease. My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief.” The deceased were identified as:

• Amresh Nath (60), Quamar Uddin Ahmed (62) & Arun Kumar Deb (75) of Karimganj
• Dinesh Ch Hazarika (65) & Gunakanta Changmai (78) of Dibrugarh
• Gulakanta Sarma (66) of Dhemaji
• Jiyasuddin Ahmed (63) of Sivasagar
• Sarbeswar Kalita (70) of Barpeta
• Chandrani Dutta (50) & Hari Pada Das (71) of Kamrup Metro
• Safique Uddin Ahmed (65) of Dhubri
• Nukul Nath (60) of Udalguri
• Aruna Devi (73) & Sadori Bhattacharya (75) of Golaghat
• Biju Hazarika (40) of Jorhat
