Dead body of Silchar youth who drowned at Sindura recovered

Aug. 9: A youth from Madhurband area of Silchar, identified as Sakib Akthar Laskar on Sunday went along with his friends to Sindura river at Kalain to enjoy the natural beauty on Sunday. While swimming in the river, suddenly Sakib drowned. On Monday night, his body floated at the spot where he drowned the previous day.

As per reports, when Sakib drowned, his friends tried to search him for a while, but in vain. Then they raised a hue and cry. People from the nearby area gathered over there. They informed the police. Forces from the local police station reached there along with SDRF team. The search operation was started by the SDRF on the same day. However, till dusk, they were unable to trace him. SDRF continued its search operation on Monday, but failed to find him. Finally, on Monday night, his body was found floating in the river almost at the spot where he drowned. His last rites were performed on Tuesday afternoon.

Sakib Akthar Laskar is the son of the owner of Hindusthan Cloth Store at Fatak Bazar, Silchar.
