ওয়েটুবরাক, ৫ জুলাই : রাস্তার পাশে জঞ্জালের মধ্যে সদ্যোজাতের মৃতদেহ !  শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজের সামনের এই ঘটনায় শহর জুড়ে চাঞ্চল্য দেখা দেয়৷

আজ সোমবার সকাল নয়টা নাগাদ এক ব্যবসায়ীর নজরে পড়ে মৃতদেহটি৷ তিনিই অন্যদের ডেকে দেখান৷ কাছেই পড়ে ছিল মেডিক্যাল কলেজের স্টিকার৷ জন্মের ঠিক পরে পরিচয়জ্ঞাপক নম্বর যুক্ত এ ধরনের স্টিকার লাগানো হয় সদ্যোজাতের হাতে৷

খবর পেয়ে ঘুংঘুর থানার পুলিশ গিয়ে মৃতদেহটি উদ্ধার করে ৷ বাজেয়াপ্ত করা হয় স্টিকারটিও৷ কে তার মা-বাবা, কীভাবে সে মারা গেল, জঞ্জালেই-বা ফেলা হল কেন, সে সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর জানতে পুলিশ তদন্তে নেমেছে৷ বাজেয়াপ্ত স্টিকার এ ক্ষেত্রে সহায়ক হতে পারে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে৷

July 5: In a heart wrenching incident, a dead body of a new born baby boy was found dumped just outside the main gate of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Passers-by noticed the baby lying abandoned among garbage at around 9 AM on Monday. At once, they raised a hue and cry. Police was also informed. On close observation, it was revealed that the baby was dead. A token, which is usually affixed by hospitals on the wrist of children after birth was also found near the body of the baby.

While interacting with the media, a person of the locality said, “It was around 9 in the morning on Monday when people of the area suddenly noticed a baby dumped alongside the boundary wall outside Silchar Medical College. People went near to find that the baby was already dead. It seems that the baby was born just a day or two earlier. A token of Silchar Medical College was also found near the body. Police came and took along the body with them.” The token found near the body of the baby will definitely serve as a clue to locate the parent(s) or others who dumped it on the roadside.

Speculations were rife as to how and by whom the baby was thrown there. People are apprehending that the baby might have been given birth by some single mother and so after its birth, it was left on the road. Whatever may have been the cause of deserting the baby, but the fact remains that such type of incidents speak volume of crisis of humanity in human beings.
