বন্যার জমা জলে ভেসে উঠল শিশুর মৃতদেহ

৫ জুলাই : আবদ্ধ হয়ে থাকা বন্যার জলে এক শিশুর মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার হওয়ার ঘটনায় পুরো শহর জুড়ে ব্যাপক চাঞ্চল্য দেখা দিয়েছে। মৃত শিশুটির নাম মহম্মদ রহমান। শিলচর মেহেরপুর এলাকার জিলানি চৌধুরী লেনে এই মর্মান্তিক ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে।

জানা গেছে, মৃত শিশুটির মা মল্লিকা বেগম নার্স হিসেবে শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজে কর্মরত। তিনি মূলত ডিব্রুগড়ের বাসিন্দা। মেডিক্যালে নিযুক্ত থাকায় গত কিছুদিন ধরে ভাড়াটে হিসেবে জিলানি চৌধুরী লেনে রয়েছেন তিনি। ডিউটি শেষ করে আসার পর মল্লিকা ঘরে নিজের পুত্র সন্তানকে দেখতে না পেয়ে খোঁজাখুঁজি শুরু করেন। কিন্তু কিছু সময় পর স্থানীয় জনগণ দেখতে পান, বন্যা সরে যাওয়ার পর জমা জলে শিশুটির মৃতদেহ ভেসে উঠেছে। এরপর খবর দেওয়া হয় পুলিশে। পুলিশ এসে মৃতদেহ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য শিলচর মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে পাঠায়। এ ঘটনায় গোটা এলাকায় শোকের ছায়া নেমে এসেছে।

July 5: In a tragic incident, the dead body of a child was found floating in the stagnant flood water which accumulated inside the house. The incident took place at Jilani Choudhury Lane at Meherpur, Silchar. The 4-year-old deceased child was identified as Mohd Rahman.

As per reports, the mother of the deceased Mallika Begum works as a nurse at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). They are actually residents of Dibrugarh. As she got job at SMCH, so they stayed in a rented house at Meherpur.

On returning to her rented house after completion of duty, Mallika Begum found that her 4-year-old child was missing. Immediately she raised a hue & cry. People from the nearby houses rushed to the spot and also started to search the kid. The house was engulfed in stagnant flood water. Suddenly people saw that the dead body of the kid was floating inside the house. Police reached the spot and took the dead body for post-mortem.
