DCs authorised to constitute area-wise Home Quarantine Committees, FIR to be lodged against violators
April 24: In view of the need to ensure that Government instructions in respect of home quarantine are complied with, and in order to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 infection, a number of measures were put in place. This was stated in a notification issued by the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Health & Family Welfare Department on 24 April.
- Deputy Commissioners or authorities delegated by the Deputy Commissioners will constitute area-wise Home Quarantine Committees in case of (a) village, (b) urban locality, (c) apartment complexes and (d) any other area/ habitation, deemed necessary, comprising of representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PR’s), Gaon burahs, Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Residents Welfare Association members, retired teachers, local NGOs. conscious citizens, etc., as per local situation.
- The Home Quarantine Committees are authorized to file complaints to the local Police Stations in case any individual violates home quarantine. Such complaints will be converted to FIRs by the police authorities for initiating legal action.
- In case of violation of home quarantine by a Government employee, he/ she will be liable for disciplinary action, in addition to legal action.
