DC to discuss in a meeting on 23 July about any proposition of lockdown in Cacharকাছাড়ে লকডাউন? বৃহস্পতিবার বৈঠক ডেকেছেন ডিসি
July 22: Cachar recorded the biggest single day spike of 159 positive cases on Tuesday. Not only Cachar, the overall coronavirus count in Assam went upto 26,772 with 1680 positive cases on Tuesday. The spike of positive cases in Cachar since the last few days has resulted in panic among the inhabitants. Netizens taking to social media are raising the demand for a lockdown.
Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Pijush Hazarika during his recent visit to Silchar on 20 July told the Deputy Commissioner to hold discussions with peoples representatives and senior citizens on enforcing total lockdown in market places.
During an interaction with journalists on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said that enforcing total lockdown would hit the common man hard and would deprive them of their livelihoods. However, she was quick to add that the administration would take all segments of people into confidence before placing a proposal to the state government. She informed that based on a general consensus that was likely to emerge from a meeting with senior citizens, merchants’ associations and other segments of society slated for 23 July, the administration would decide the future course of action.
