DC Karimganj visits Badarpur Railway Station, oversees 20 Covid coaches
May 7: Deputy Commissioner, Karimganj Anbamuthan MP along with ADC (Health), Superintendent of Police, Circle Officer Badarpur and Railway authorities visited Badarpur Railway Station on Friday. The Deputy Commissioner along with his team went there to oversee arrangements for deployment of 20 railway coaches turned Covid isolation centres. They will contain total 320 beds with oxygen support, and will greatly aid in the relentless fight against COVID-19.
State Health Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday informed that around 20 such coaches with 350 oxygen beds have been made ready by the Indian Railways for Assam. These coaches were stationed at Badarpur, Guwahati, Lumding, Bongaigaon & Tinsukia.
Taking to his twitter handle, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday wrote, “Grateful to PM Sri @narendramodi for helping Assam with rail coaches to act as Covid Care Centres. 20 ± coaches each (350 Oxygen beds) are being placed at Badarpur (pics), Guwahati, Lumding, Bongaigaon & Tinsukia. Thank you Sri @PiyushGoyal.” He also tweeted pictures of Covid compartments in Badarpur Railway Station in Barak Valley.
