DC Hailakandi convenes meeting of Japanese Encephalitis Task Force in the district
July 20: Three more people in Assam died due to Japanese Encephalitis (JE) on 20 July, 2019, taking the toll to 104 in the state, a daily National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin stated. Further, the number of Japanese Encephalitis-positive cases increased to 459, as 20 new ones were registered, the bulletin said. It is in this backdrop that a Japanese Encephalitis Task Force meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi on Saturday.
Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi met in her conference room with ADC Health, Joint Director Health Services, SDMHO, DPM NHM, MTS, Vaccinators, Multi Purpose Workers, Survey Inspectors, Survey Workers and other officials of the district. Strict instructions were passed to ensure blood sample testing, fogging, counselling, ITBN activities.
The Deputy Commissionerbrought to notice of public that ELIZA serum test for JE is done only in S K Roy Civil Hospital in the district. It is a simple test of suspected fever blood samples and for that patients don’t need to go to Silchar for confirmation. Keerthi Jalli said, “I request the people to get verified over symptoms of fever, headache, nausea or disorientation.”
