DC, Cachar visits SLRM Centre; emphasises on proper waste segregation

Sept.18: Deputy Commissioner Kirthi Jalli visited the SLRM Centre at BRTF campus to take stock of work here on Friday.

With monsoon season waning, Jalli asked the municipality staff to focus on cleaning the town through strict regulations and penalise those not following instructions.

Executive Officer, Silchar Municipal Board showed the area where compostor machines have been installed for converting wet organic waste into manure compost. Jalli insisted on plans to be made in a phased manner for reducing collecting waste en masse and focus on segregated waste collected at doorstep for efficient and proper management of waste. “Segregation is one of the most important activities that we need to promote and enforce for effective waste management in urban areas,” added Jalli.
