DC Cachar visits Bethukandi dyke, work underway for functioning of sluice gate

June 29: Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar visited Bethukandi dyke site on Wednesday. Irrigation Engineer opened the sluice gate for water to flow out from town into river. Instructions were given to close them down as soon as water starts seeping back. Work is underway for the functioning of the sluice gate. Water Resources Engineers are at work dropping B type Geo Bags to help stem the pressure of the water on the dyke.
