DC Cachar reviews ICU construction at SMC&H

Sept.19: Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Keerthi Jalli visited the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMC&H) to oversee the progress of construction work of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Jalli inspected the SMCH works for the new ICU cum HDU (High Dependency Unit) ward to be opened shortly.

The Deputy Commissioner examined the oxygen pipe connection, bathroom construction and asked the contractors to complete the construction work on a war footing. Jalli checked the beds availability along with para monitor screens and ventilators. The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with Principal SMC&H, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah & Superintendent Dr Avijit Swami and reviewed the construction of 40 bedded ICU meant for COVID patients and 60 bedded newly constructed COVID Ward. Later, the Deputy Commissioner paid her visit to the central ICU of SMC&H and explored the feasibility of increasing the number of beds in the ICU.
