DC Cachar imposes fine for not wearing mask, spitting & violation of social distancing
May 6: In a strict warning against those spitting in public places, not wearing a mask and violating social distancing norms, the Cachar District Administration has decided to levy fines for these. The order issued by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar cum Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Barnali Sharma on 6 May stated that those who fail to pay fine will be booked under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The order by the district administration stated that it will impose a fine of ₹200 for spitting in public places and ₹100 for not wearing a mask or covering the face with a cloth i public place or work place. The order further stated that for violation of social distancing norms, a fine of ₹100 will be imposed.
As a warning for violators, the order stated that, “Violation of this order is punishable as per section 51 of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 188 IPC. Additionally, those refusing to pay would be liable for action/ punishment under Section 188, IPC.”
