DC Cachar holds public grievance redressal meeting in Silchar
July 2: Public Grievance Redressal meeting was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Cachar here on Friday. Deputy Commissioner ,Cachar Keerthi Jalli presided over the meeting in presence of the District Development Commissioner, Cachar- Rajib Roy, the ADC (PG) and the Nodal Officer (e-Samiksha). It is worth mentioning that earlier public grievance redressal meeting was held on every Friday of the week at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office, but it was temporarily discontinued due to Assembly Elections, 2021 and Covid- 19 pandemic.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Public Grievances redressal mechanism was launched as ‘Abhijuger Protikar’ on June 19, 2020, a pet project of the District Administration Cachar which has addressed 415 Public Grievances so far. The same has been resumed on Friday, 2 July, 2021 with various Line Departments attending the concerned meeting.
The Abhijuger Protikar invites the public to put forth their grievances every Friday at 10 am for speedy redressal of their various petitions. The attendance of the various officials of Line Departments ensures the redressal of issues which requires convergence of various departments.
Grievances addressed includes redressal of shortage of electricity supply pertaining to APDCL put forward by one Pijush Kanti Nath and accordingly, to resolve low voltage issue one linking LT line is in progress. Another notable grievance addressed is complaint regarding an unauthorised liquor shop and gambling at Bhatirgram, Narsingpur which was handled swiftly by Excise branch in which two persons were arrested with case under section 61 B(a) of Assam Excise Act , with a fine of Rs. 7000.
The Public Grievance Redressal Meeting was followed by Assam-eSamikSha meeting which pertains to real time, on-line system for monitoring of follow-up action on the decisions taken during the presentations made by different Departments and Agencies to the Chief Minister of Assam. The follow-up action in respect of each decision is to be updated by the concerned Departments and Agencies as and when the status changes or at least in every month.
