DC Cachar applauds civic responsibility shown by citizens in encouraging home isolation

August 5: In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of positive cases are now in the upward surge. A major chunk of asymptomatic patients have expressed the desire of staying in home isolation. It is in this connection, Cachar District Administration has also come forward in cooperating with the people by permitting them home isolation, subject to fulfillment of certain conditions.

Taking to the official Facebook page of Cachar District Administration, Deputy Commissiner Keerthi Jalli stated, “Many Resident Associations are coming forward encouraging their wards to continue their treatment within the individuals home premises. We welcome and applaud such civic responsibility shown by citizens. We request the Resident Associations to support us further by ensuring nobody breaks out of Covid Containment rules of his house once he/she turns positive. Request local GP president, Secretaries of Welfare associations to facilitate with fetching of some things that are desired by the contained family.”

She further stated that, “To make the process transparent and easier, it is explained in detail that people opting for the provision be:
  1. asymptomatic
  2. have means of self monitoring through Oximeter & thermometer
  3. separate room with attached toilet
  4. no senior citizen with co-morbid conditions
  5. neighbours agree – a letter in this regard
  6. arrangements for a private doctor for monitoring
  7. arrangements for a private vehicle to take to a nearest hospital if need be.”

The district administration added, “Applications for home quarantine may be sent to Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) team, if all of the above conditions are satisfied with a signed undertaking that all Covid Containment rules will be strictly abided by the individual.”

It needs mention here that eminent cardiologist Dr. P.C. Sharma and his wife were the 1st coronavirus positive patients to be allowed home isolation by the district health department after he satisfied the conditions laid down by Assam government in this connection. Earlier, Sukanta Sarani (Hailakandi Road, Silchar), Adi Shib Bari Lane Development Committee (adjacent to Public School), Moulabi Road (Ambicapatty), Bilpar – Ashram Road Unnayan Sangstha, Shivalik Park, East Norshing Road Development Committee, Arun Chanda Road, Sahid Sunil Sarkar Lane etc also took a similar decision in allowing any asymptomatic positive patient of their lane/ apartment/ society to stay in home isolation.
