DC appeals to people to strictly follow guidelines as fight against COVID-19 not yet over
May 20: The Hailakandi district administration has appealed to the people to maintain social distancing norms and wear masks to prevent the novel coronavirus from spreading further. Deputy Commissioner, MN Dahal said the fight against COVID-19 virus is not yet over and the people have to strictly follow the guidelines and instructions issued by the government and the administration from time to time to contain the dreaded disease. Dahal said though the government has given relaxation on opening of shops and allowed certain economic activities, at the same time it has asked people to observe guidelines such as maintaining social distancing norms, wearing of face masks and avoid gathering of any kind, be it social or religious, to keep coronavirus under check.
He requested the senior persons above the age of 65, persons with comorbidities, pregnant women and the parents not to take the children below the age of 10 out of the homes. The Deputy Commissioner urged the people not to go out on a buying spree as shops would remain open till 6 pm and to step out of their homes only during necessity. Dahal asked the shop owners to ensure social distancing of at least six feet and not to allow more than five persons to assemble at a time. He warned that the administration would be bound to take strict action against the offenders under the various provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 as ‘it cannot put the lives of the people at peril’.
