Day long Training Programme on NAAC Preparedness at Nehru College, Pailapool
Way2barak, March 10 : One Day Training Programme sponsored by RUSA 2.0 on NAAC Preparedness and NEP 2020 Implementation in colleges of Assam (Barak Valley Zone) was organised at Nehru College, Pailapool on Friday. The said Training Programme was organised in collaboration with UGC- Human Resource Development Centre, Gauhati University. L.Bharati Singha, Principal, Nehru College, Pailapool and Local Coordinator of RUSA 2.0 sponsored Training Programme presided over the inaugural session of the training programme. Dr.Sanjib Bhattacharjee, programme coordinator, UGC- HRDC Gauhati University was also present in the training programme.
Joydeep Biswas, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Cachar College, Silchar and Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee, Assistant professor, Department of English, Radhamadhab College, Silchar Conducted the training programme as a resource person. The first session of the training programme was confined to NAAC preparedness where both the resource persons discussed various aspects related to the participation of colleges in NAAC accreditation process. They enlightened the participants various strategy, mechanism and process for participation of the colleges in NAAC accreditation. At the end of the first session, an interactive session was held with the participants who including principals, IQAC Coordinators and members of the criterion committee for NAAC of the colleges.
The second session of the training was on the implementation of NEP 2020 in the colleges of Assam. In this session, Joydeep Biswas highlighted various issues of the implementation of NEP 2020 in the undergraduate programmes of the affiliated colleges of Assam University. He said that Assam University has already prepared a draft structure of four year degree course and curriculum framework for its UG programme in the affiliated colleges. This curriculum framework was prepared by the NEP implementation committee in UG level of Assam University consultation with the different stake holders. The university is most likely to introduce NEP 2020 in UG programme of affiliated colleges from the next academic session i. e 2023-2024.
Dr. Arunabha Bhattacharjee highlighted many pertinant issues related to the curriculum framework of NEP for UG programmes. Dr. S.Somarendra Singha, Principal, Jagannath Singh College, Udharbond along with 8 other Assistant professors participated in the training programme. Dr Mita Dey, Principal in charge, M.K Dey College, Amrraghat, Tapas Deb, Principal in charge, S.M..Dev College, Lakhipur along with 8 other faculty members from both the Colleges respectively participated in the training programme. In the last session of the programme, the certificates were distributed to the participants.The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Subhajit Chakraborty, HOD, Department of Political Science, Nehru College, Pailapool.
