DA hiked by 3% for central govt employees & pensioners with effect from 1 July, 2021

Oct. 21: In the festive season, just a few days before Diwali, the Central Government has come up with a gift for all its employees. The Union Cabinet approved a 3 per cent dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) hike for central government employees and pensioners on Thursday.

Prior to this, the Centre had approved an increase in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) given to central government employees and pensioners from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. With the 3% hike on Thursday, DA for central government employees has now been increased to 31 percent.

The move will benefit about 47.14 lakh Central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. It will cost the exchequer Rs 9,488.70 crore per annum.
