Cyber Cell of Assam Police stops Rs.50 lakh from being siphoned off by cyber frauds
Aug. 9: Cyber crime is a global threat. In a strong step against the menace, Assam Government has launched a 24X7 helpline no 155260. Cyber fraud victims may immediately call this number to block further transfer of the lost money and retrieve it.
Taking to his twitter handle, Director-General of Assam Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta stated, “Rs. 50,00,000! Yes, Rs. 50,00,000! The Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting & Management System was launched just over a month ago. And we have already reached the important milestone amount, that has been stopped from going into the hands of the Cyber frauds.”

The DGP Assam further stated, “Unlike any other state, we run this facility 24X7, 365 days a year. Our constant endeavour is to improve the system, make it impregnable. We do so under the able guidance of Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI.”
Earlier, during the launch of this service, a month ago, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “As part of our endeavour, ‘Cyber crime first responder kits’ were also distributed among police officers by DGP of Assam Police. 245 such portable kits procured at Rs 33.16 crore under MOITRI will be will be used by Investigating Officers at the crime scenes.”
