Custom hiring centre under World Bank sponsored APART project inaugurated in Cachar

Jan. 11: Under World Bank sponsored APART project 20-21 under Department of Agriculture, a ‘custom hiring centre’ to be run by Farmers Producers Cooperative of Borkholla area was inaugurated by MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy and Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli at Purandapur. The Borkholla FPC was made through support from APART and the company has been offered support through supply of farm machines under subsidy in the hope that hiring of these commonly needed appliances would enhance the revenues of the FPC. On the same day, Cachar District Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli exhibited a machine for making rice from paddy during an exhibition.

Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy suggested to farmers to avail benefits by offering hiring of these facilities by rural farmers. Many Government measures by the Centre and the State are also active for future development of farmers’ community

Addressing the farmers, DC Jalli stressed upon the need to bring in professionalism in running of the company. She insisted on good bookkeeping practices to be adopted for the success of the company. She asked them to think of innovative ways of developing use of these machinaries and planning further for a Common Service Center.

District Agriculture Officer elaborated about Farmers facilities being provided to Farmers and farmers Producer Company Ltd. For agriculture development, Assam govt has provided all machinaries on subsidised rate. Uma Kant Dubey, Senior Consultant cum District Task Manager Cachar (SIMFED) discussed with farmers about the dream being made into reality after tireless efforts by district administration, Agriculture department and APART support to develop sustainable business plan for Farmers producer company. Dhananjoy Das, Chairman of Borkhola Integrated Farming Farmers Producer Company Ltd thanked the Deputy Commissioner for working hard in allotting land and completing all the permissions within time. He thanked MP Dr Roy for his keen interest in solving the issues of the farmers.

Also present in the event were L.I Singh, District Agriculture Officer, Cachar, Uma Kant Dubey SIMFED, Sr Consultant, District Task Manager, Cachar, others official and local farmers representatives under Borkhola Integrated Farming Farmers Producer Company Ltd.
