CUET Exempted for admission in UG for Affiliated Colleges in NE Region

Way2barak, March 19 : Government announced special initiatives to promote education and increase opportunities for North Eastern students in Common University Entrance Test.

The government has recently announced special opportunities for students from North Eastern states in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for Sikkim University, Rajiv Gandhi University, Manipur University, Assam University, Tezpur University, Nagaland University, Tripura University, Mizoram University, NEHU and HNBGU. Uttarakhand was allowed to take admission in the affiliated colleges to the central University as per the past practice instead of CUET for the year 2022-2023.

As per the discussion taken, students from these states will be given certain relaxation in the eligibility criteria for admission to these universities. The government has decided that the exemption may be extended for one more year for 2023-24. It has also requested UGC to issue necessary notification in this regard.

This move has been widely appreciated by students and educationists alike. The decision is expected to enhance the educational prospects for students from the underrepresented regions.

However, the admission in various PG and UG /IG Courses of Assam University will be only through CUET, as notified earlier by Assam University.
