CSI Student Branch of Assam Univ organises CSI State Student Convention Assam, 2020,

Dec. 8: Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch, Assam University, Silchar organized CSI State Student Convention Assam 2020, in association with Computer Society of India Kolkata Chapter & Region – II, CSI on dated 4 December, 2020. This is an annual student event organized by CSI student branches to provide students a platform to showcase their technical talents.

Chief Patron and Patron of the event were Prof. Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice-Chancellor, Assam University, and Prof. A. K. Nayak, Immediate Past President, Computer Society of India. The chief guest was Mr. Ram Krishna Vyas , President, Computer Society of India. Prof. Sams Raza, RVP II, and Dr. Aniruddha Nag, Chairman, CSI Kolkata Chapter, graced the occasion as Honorary Chairs in the event. The event chair, organizing chair, and program chair of the event were Prof. Sudipta Roy, Dr. Sunita Sarkar, and Dr. Somnath Mukhopadhyay from the organizing institute. Mr. W. Niranjan Singh coordinated the event.

The inauguration was followed by Keynote address, student paper presentations, Tech Quiz Contest, Coding Contest, and Award Ceremony. Distinguished keynote speakers at the inaugural ceremony, were Prof. Dipti Prasad Mukherjee, Deputy Director, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India, and Lawrence Mohanraj, GM- Academic Initiative, IBM India. Prof. Samiran Chattopadhyay, Jadavpur University, and Prof. Debashis De, West Bengal University of Technology chaired the student paper presentation session. Mr. Dwaipayan Saha, Mr. Pritam Roy and Srijon Mallick, and Mr. Swapnoneel Sarkar won the First, Second, and Third prizes in this category.

Being the Jury in the Tech Quiz contest, Prof. Kousik Dasgupta, Kalyani Govt. Engg. College, West Bengal, selected Mr. Rajarshi Goala, Mr. Swapnoneel Sarkar, and Mr. Sandip Das as the top three performers of the session. In the coding contest, Rajarshi Goala, Amarjeet Prasad and Bhaskar Baruati received the First, Second, and Third prizes. The Jury of that session was Hrishav Bakul Barua, Scientist, TCS Innovations Laboratory, India. In the Award ceremony, the winners were felicitated with e-certificates and prize money.

Assam University Silchar acknowledged the support and cooperation of office bearers of CSI HQ, CSI Region II, CSI Kolkata Chapter, and members of the faculty and students, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Assam University, for their enormous contributions towards the success of the first state student convention Assam. It needs mention that an overwhelming response exceeding 70 registrations were recorded for the event.
