Crucial meeting of security agencies held in Assam in the face of ensuing assembly polls
Jan. 8: With the Assam Legislative Assembly elections knocking round the door, a very crucial meeting of the security agencies was held in Guwahati on Thursday. The meeting chaired by Director General of Assam Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta was attended by Additional DGP (Special Branch), Inspector General (CID) and top officials of the BSF, SSB, Assam Border Police, CRPF, RPF and GRF.
A number of key decisions were taken during the course of the meeting keeping in mind the ensuing assembly polls which is likely to be held in the month of March-April, 2021. Detailed discussions were held regarding conducting the elections in a smooth manner. As per sources, the meeting discussed measures to provide round the clock surveillance so that peace and tranquility is not hampered and the polls are conducted in a free and fair manner.
