CRPCC convenes mass rally on Tuesday in demand of citizenship

১২ নভেম্বর : শিলচর শহরের একাধিক স্থানে সোমবার একের পর এক পথসভার মাধ্যমে মঙ্গলবারের গণমিছিলে সবস্তরের মানুষকে যোগদানের আহবান জানিয়েছে সিআরপিসিসির উদ্যোগে গঠিত যৌথ আন্দোলন পরিচালন সমিতি।

অসমে নাগরিকত্বের দাবিতে বিশাল গণমিছিলে শামিল হওয়ার জন্য শেষদিনের প্রচারাভিযানের অঙ্গ হিসেবে এই পথসভাগুলো হয়েছে বিকেল ৪ টা থেকে রাত ৮ টা পর্যন্ত। শহরের ক্যাপিটাল পয়েন্ট, ক্ষুদিরাম মূর্তির পাদদেশ, ভাওয়াল পয়েন্ট, দেওয়ানজি বাজার মোড়, প্রেমতলা, অম্বিকাপট্টি মোড় এবং রাঙিরখাড়িতে অনুষ্ঠিত এই পথসভাগুলিতে বক্তব্য রাখেন তপোধীর ভট্টাচার্য, শরিফুজ্জামান লস্কর, সীমান্ত ভট্টাচার্য, অজয় রায়, শ্রীনিবাস কর, সাধন পুরকায়স্থ, নির্মল দাস, হরিদাস দত্ত, রূপম নন্দী পুরকায়স্থ, তমোজিৎ সাহা প্রমুখ।

প্রসঙ্গত, মঙ্গলবার বেলা ১২টায় এই গণমিছিল শুরু হবে শহরের ইন্ডিয়া ক্লাব মাঠ থেকে। শহরের বিভিন্ন রাস্তা ঘুরে মিছিল যাবে ন্যাশনাল হাইওয়ে পয়েন্টে চিত্তরঞ্জন দাশের মূর্তির পাদদেশে। এই মিছিলে যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য জনগণকে বেলা সাড়ে ১১টার মধ্যে ইন্ডিয়া ক্লাব মাঠে জমায়েত হওয়ার আহবান জানান যৌথ আন্দোলন পরিচালন সমিতির সদস্যরা।

এদিকে, এই পথসভাগুলোতে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে গণমিছিল আয়োজনে প্রয়োজনীয়তার কথা বক্তারা তুলে ধরেন। তাছাড়া সিআরপিসিসি যে দাবি দাওয়াগুলো তুলে ধরেছে, সেগুলোর বিষয়েও তারা উল্লেখ করেন। তাদের কথায়, এনআরসিতে ১৫টি নথি সহ অন্য যে কোনও প্রামাণ্য নথি গ্রহণ করতে হবে। পাশাপাশি এনআরসি তালিকাভুক্তদের পুনরায় পরীক্ষা করার সিদ্ধান্ত বাতিল করতে হবে।

সিআরপিসিসি-র দাবি অনুযায়ী, এনআরসিতে নাম অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা ও দাবির সময়সীমা আরও দু’মাস বাড়াতে হবে। কারণ হঠাৎ করে পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচন ঘোষণা হওয়ায় এনআরসি প্রক্রিয়া সম্পন্ন করতে জনগণকে অনেক অসুবিধা ভোগ করতে হবে। অমানবিক ডিটেনশন ক্যাম্পগলো বন্ধ করার দাবিও উঠেছে পথসভায়। সেইসঙ্গে উগ্র জাতীয়তাবাদী শক্তির ষড়যন্ত্রের বিরুদ্ধে আওয়াজ তোলার দাবিও উঠেছে।

November 12: A mass rally has been convened by Joint Movement Organizing Committee formed by Citizens Rights Protection Coordination Committee (CRPCC), Assam on 13 November (Tuesday). The rally will begin from India Club Field, Silchar at 11.30 in the morning. In this regard, CRPCC has been organising street lectures in various parts of the district since the last few days in order to spread awareness among the people regarding the various discrepancies which have crept up in the NRC process.

The various demands raised by CRPCC include:

1. To accept any other relevant document as valid for proving one’s citizenship along with the 15 documents accepted by the Supreme Court in this regard.

2. To reject the decision of re-examining 10 percent of the documents of those persons whose names have already appeared in the final draft list of NRC published on 30 July.

3. To examine the documents of those whose names were not included in the final draft with a legal framework.

4. To arrest those involved in merciless massacre at Dhola in Tinsukia and to give them exemplary punishment.

5. Objections raised by any persons if found to be false should be given punishment as per the main clauses of the Indian Citizenship Act.

6. To shut down the inhuman detention camps.

7. To stop the unconstitutional procedure of ascribing ‘D’ status.

8. No time frame to be imposed for proving family linkage.

9. The NRC process to be completed under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

10. Names are to be included in the NRC in the context of Panchayat election and the time schedule for filing claims to be enhanced by another two months.

11. Reasons should be specified for non-inclusion of names in NRC.

12. The state to ensure security of all the citizens.

In support of these demands, a number of street lectures were organised throughout the week. On Monday, a day before the mass rally, CRPCC conducted street lectures at Capital point, near the Khudiram statue, Bhowal point, Dewanji Bazar, Premtala, Ambicapatty point and Rangirkhari. Many speakers spoke on the charter of demands. Those who spoke during these street lectures are Simanta Bhattacharjee, Sarifujjuman laskar, Ajoy Roy, Srinibas Kar, Sadhan Purkayastha, Nirmal Das, Haridas Dutta, Rupam Nandi Purkayastha, Tamojit Saha and others. All of them have appealed to the people to be present in large numbers in the mass rally convened by them on Tuesday morning.
