CRPC Assam condemns barbaric incidents during Durga Puja in Bangladesh

Oct. 17: Citizens’ Rights Preservation Committee (CRPC) Assam strongly condemned the bloodshed and barbaric incidents which took place during the Durga Puja in different parts of Bangladesh- Comilla, Chittagong, Gazipur, Moulabi Bazar, Kulaura, Lakkhipur, Kurigram, Sylhet, Chandpur, Noakhali, etc. The atrocities and fundamentalist hooliganism reached its zenith through various forms – demolishing of idols, looting, killing, kidnapping, burning, rapes, grabbing of land and property and what not. “These activities clearly indicates that a parallel government by the Islamic fundamentalists is running in Bangladesh,” stated CRPC in a press release.

Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury- Chief Advisor, Nripendra Ch.Saha- President, Sadhan Purkayastha- Secretary General and Bidhayak Das Purkayastha- General Secretary of CRPC ASSAM claimed that the motto and objective of the formation of Bangladesh under the patronage of India is really under threat and Bangladesh is also marching ahead in the same footsteps as of other fundamentalist countries. In this regard, the leaders are of the opinion that due to the weak and compromising policies of the External Affairs Ministry of India, such heinous crimes take place on Hindus and other minority communities of Bangladesh at regular intervals since the formation of the country.

“It is high time for the External Affairs Ministry to take all precautionary measures to permanently put an end to this genocide,” urged CRPC. The leaders demanded that International platform UNHCR should immediately intervene into the matter. CRPC ASSAM also urged the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India to save and protect the partition victims as per the commitment of the national leadership and Indian policy. The Government of India should formulate hassle-free, unconditional terms and conditions without any statutory requirements to provide rights of Indian Citizenship to all the ill-fated partition victims for their survival and existence.

“The government cannot shun off with its liability as it is duty bound to provide shelter to these Hindus of undivided India, who were no way responsible for the black chapters of partition. We appeal to all the communities of both Bangladesh and India to maintain peace and harmony and uphold the spirit of universal brotherhood,” stated CRPC Assam.
