Covid preparation: 60-bed ICU gets operational at Silchar Medical College & Hospital
May 6: In the backdrop of the rising coronavirus cases in the state, the Assam government is striving to boost up the infrastructural facilities. State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is personally monitoring the set up of new oxygen plants, ICUs in various hospitals of Assam. On 6 May, a new 60-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been made operational at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sharing this information, the minister said, that the ventilators in the ICU at SMCH is supported by PM Cares Fund.
Taking to his twitter handle, Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Stepping up our #Covid management capabilities, happy to share that a 60-bed ICU gets operational from today at Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
