Covid patient from Panchayat Road, Silchar dies on Saturday at SMCH

May 8: The death of Covid-19 positive patients is continuing in Cachar. On Saturday, the district witnessed another such death. A 60 year old male Mahibur Rahaman Barbhuiyan from Panchayat Road in Silchar was suffering from cough and sob for last 4 days. He was also diabetic & hypertensive and was on medications when admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on 3 May.

Mahibur Rahaman Barbhuiyan was diagnosed to be a case of Covid pneumonia. Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert informed that the patient presented with Sp o 2 of 63 % on oxygen was initially admitted in ward but later shifted to ICU.  He had to be put on Non invasive ventilator on being unable to maintain oxygen and had to be intubated today and put on mechanical ventilator. However, all efforts to save him failed and ultimately, he expired at 6.00 pm on 8 May.
